Google+ Hangouts with Extras!
It’s a slew of Google+ updates today! Hope you’ve been following along!
As mentioned in another blogpost Google+ is adding an “On Air” feature to Hangouts. Which is a really cool feature..
But, the other features they added today will blow your socks off!!! So hold on tight my friends!
These new “Extras” as they are calling them are what people call “Game Changers”, and I would agree with. (Although I really hate that phrase!)
The features are currently considered to be in “preview” mode so they are still testing them. And Google+ is asking for input.
So here are the new features, or should I say “Extras”:
- Screensharing- Yes I said SCREEN SHARING!!! This is huge. Now you can share your desktop with people in a Google+ Hangout! This will be a huge blow to webinar platforms that charge montly fees to use them letting you do this. So I could see a teacher giving a presentation, or maybe you have a mastermind group you meet with and want to share a presentation, now you can! And guess what MAC users? It works for you too!!! I just got done testing it with some G+ users!
- Sketchpad- Not sure of the point of this but you can now share a sketchpad and draw, doodle and etc. Maybe if you are brainstorming a design idea this is a cool option to kind of collaborate quickly with people across the globe.
- Google Docs- Another BIG time extra added. Now you can share ANYTHING you have in Google Docs with people in a Hangout. You can even upload something to your Google Docs within the Hangout platform from your computer! Again this integration is what will be the difference maker between Google+ and Facebook.
- Named Hangouts- Now you can name your hangout by topic letting your followers know what you will be talking about. This is great for those that have a large following and want to just talk about something that might not appeal to others.
The extras are still under construction, but we wanted to preview these features and get your feedback sooner versus later. So start a hangout, click “Try Hangouts with extras” in the green room, and let us know what you think.
