Google+ Hangouts on Air

Last week I saw some coders figure out a way to broadcast and record their Google+ Hangouts. Whether G+ meant for them to see it or not is still not known.

I actually tried it and was really impressed if this was a feature Google+ was going to add.

So it was announced today that on a limited basis Google+ will be rolling out the “On Air” Hangouts, meaning that only 9 people can still join the Hangout but then anyone can watch the live broadcast.

This is a really interesting feature to have. I can see concerts, classes, church worship services, and more being done using this format.

And with so much interest and buzz over Google+ and hangouts someone could quickly grow a huge following very fast. I’ve already seen it with Daria Musk and the guys at HangoutParty.com. On it they have been live broadcasting hangouts via Livestream and had huge success. With this you won’t need any work around!

From the Google+ blog:

The setup is simple enough: just start a normal hangout, and you’ll have the option to broadcast and record your session. Once you’re “On Air,” up to nine others can join your hangout (as usual), and anyone can watch your live broadcast:

We’re starting with a limited number of broadcasters, but any member of the Google+ community can tune in. In fact: we’ll be hosting our very first On Air hangout with will.i.am on Wednesday night, September 21. For more information visit will.i.am’s or my profile on Google+.

Yet again another feature that will seperate Google+ from Facebook and adds even more power to the Google/YouTube empire!
