Facebook’s Secret Project
Coming this weekend, Facebook users are going to see a huge change to their profiles, the Timeline. This profile overhaul and other features such as the music/media platform were all announced at the F8 conference last week.
But one Facebook project went unmentioned.
The project is codename Project Spartan and it has the potential to rival Apple (the Xerxes of the app world).
According to the mobile developer page, out of Facebook’s 800 million users, “over 200 million users access Facebook from a mobile device every month.”
Project Spartan is an app distributor that will run on Facebook Credits. The primary focus will be on games in a push to remove gamers from the classic flash game experience on the web.
The HTML5-base mobile app mobile platform has been worked on in secret by developers for the past couple of months now. In fact there are rumors that it has been done for a while now. What is Project Spartan waiting for?
Next week we will see the launch of Facebook’s iPad app. And wherever Facebook’s iPad app goes, Project Spartan is sure to follow.
And good news to Android users out there, Facebook’s app distributor will be making it’s way to your neck of the woods sooner or later.
Alexia TsoTsis of TecCrunch found pictures on Facebook’s mobile developer site before they were taken down. Feast your eyes on this:

Excellent! can't wait as I use my iPad a lot! I have a hard time seeing all the little bits on the iPhone ..so this will be great.
